James R. Knarr

James R. Knarr, 71, of Austintown, Ohio, passed away on the morning of March 9 th , 2024, at Hospice of The Valley in Poland, Ohio. James was born in Youngstown, the son of John R. Knarr and Martha M. (Smyers) Knarr, on January 1 st , 1953. He was a graduate of South High School and went on to serve his country in the Army during the Vietnam conflict. After his military time, James went on to work as an automotive mechanic at various dealerships throughout the valley. His work fueled his passion for not only drag racing but muscle cars and trucks alike.

He was married on November 21st, 1998, to the late Darlene (Chidester) Knarr, whom he built a life with until her passing in January 1 st, 2023. James leaves behind to cherish his memory, a son, Christopher (Janis) Knarr and a grandson, Christopher James Knarr. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Darlene and two brothers; David and Ron Knarr.
