James Edwin Moon

James Edwin Moon, Sr.,89, of Boardman, passed away on Tuesday morning, October 29, 2024, at Continuing Healthcare of Boardman. Born in Vienna, Ohio, he was a son of the late Scott and Helen May (Barnes) Moon and a lifelong resident of the area.

James graduated from North High School in 1951 and proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his service, he had a fulfilling career as an electrician, working for over 40 years at Sheet and Tube Co/LTV and later V & M Star Steel, from which he retired.

He was a dedicated member of Argus Lodge #545 F & AM and was known for his handyman skills, often fixing anything and everything that needed repair. In his leisure time, James enjoyed reading and spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Eleanor (Schindell), whom he married on April 22, 1953, and who passed away on September 30, 2012. James is survived by his children, James E. Moon, Jr. and John S. Moon, both of Youngstown, Susan (Albert) Gentile, and Marjorie (Mark) Hrabe of Warren; five grandchildren, Melissa Moon, Cheri Secre, Shannon Glaydura, David Moon, and Nikki; Moon; four great-grandchildren, Trice, Charles, Tyler, and Lexi; and three great-great-grandchildren, Ariel, Keith, and Paxton. He was also preceded in death by a son, Timothy J. Moon, and five brothers, Chester, Scott, Louie Charlie, Owen, and two sisters, Marjie and Clara.

Friends may call on Monday, November 4, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, from 12:00 p.m. to 12:45 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.

James will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethic, and unwavering love for his family.
