James N. Duncan

July 27, 1930 — April 5, 2020

James N. Duncan, 89, passed away Sunday April 5, 2020 at Hospice House after a brief illness. Born July 27, 1930 in Tulsa, OK, James was the son of Noble and Ida (Bruton) Duncan.

Jim grew up in Missouri and on September 2, 1950 married the love of his life, Mary Jane Green. He enlisted in the Navy and served during the Korean War. Jim and Mary Jane created a loving family and moved from Michigan to Ohio in 1965 where Jim continued building his career at General Motors in Lordstown. He retired in 1988 as a supervisor at the plant.

Jim was deeply committed to his family and his Canfield community. When his children were young, he was very involved in the Canfield Baseball League and the 4th of July committee. After his retirement, his mission became helping others. He was actively involved in the Canfield United Methodist Church, Canfield Lions Club and Feed the Hungry. Jim affectionately called Jane his “right hand” and together they spent countless hours helping at the town’s fireworks, craft shows and fish dinners.

Jim was preceded in death by his sisters, Ona Gamble and Rose Marie Garner as well as his wife Mary Jane, who passed away January 11, 2020.

Jim will be deeply missed by his son, Mike Duncan and daughter-in-law, Chris of Cleveland; his daughter, Lisa Mason and son-in-law, Jeff of Canfield; his daughter, Suzanne Stahl and son-in-law, Keith of New Hampshire.
He also leaves behind Denise Koenig and Scott Hathaway of Cleveland. Jim was a “pappaw” to 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews.

A memorial service celebrating Jim’s life will be held at a later date. Friends and family may view this obituary and give their condolences at
