James “Jim” W. Reeder, loving husband, father, papa and brother, 54, of Austintown, passed away June 12, 2019 after a lengthy illness, at Alliance Community Hospital.
Jim was born November 24, 1964 in Warren, Ohio, the son of the late James W. Reeder Sr. and Edith G. (Jeans) Morgan.
Jim was a 1983 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and a lifelong loyal Dragons fan. Prior to his illness, Jim worked for the Ohio Turnpike Commission as toll collector for sixteen years.
Jim was an avid pool player. He was a member of various pool leagues for more than twenty years. He loved sports, especially Cleveland teams and the Raiders. He had a special bond with his cousin William “Bill” Hensley Jr, and loved to spend time together watching sports, playing pool and fishing on Lake Erie. Jim was a member and advocate of Rock Steady Boxing, a non-profit organization that empowers people with Parkinson’s disease to fight back, and participated in Rock Steady classes at VSN Athletic Performance and Fitness Center. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his grandchildren, Papa’s babies.
Jim leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sherri K. Reeder (Putnam), whom he married July 1, 1989; his daughters Stacy (Anthony) Masello of Austintown and Kaley (Ed Newhouse) Reeder of Berlin Center; his grandchildren Liam Masello and Makenna Newhouse; his sisters Dorothy Baglieri of Austintown, Debra Sonoga of Hermitage, and Linda (Buddy) Hammond of Niles; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his sister Karen Fennell.
The family will receive relatives and friends Monday, June 17th from 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, with a service immediately following at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Rock Steady Boxing at rocksteadyboxing.org/donate. Honoring his generous wish, the gift of life was shared with many people in need through organ and tissue donation.
