Janet Grace Blevins

Janet Grace Blevins a resident of Briarfield Manor in Austintown passed away on Thursday June 11, 2020. The family would like to thank the Briarfield staff for the excellent care given to Janet while she was a resident.
The daughter of Ivan and Marian Blevins she was born on March 23, 1957 in Baltimore, Maryland. The family moved to Canfield, Ohio in January 1966.
Janet spent her junior year from high school as a foreign exchange student in Japan. She graduated from Canfield High School in 1975. She then attended Ohio State University graduating with a degree in education in 1979. After graduating from college, she taught school for 2 years. Later Janet worked at the GM Lordstown auto assembly plant.
On May 1, 1982 Janet’s mental illness resulted in her attempt to kill herself. Instead, she did sufficient brain damage that required her to be in a nursing home.
Janet is survived by her brother Roger Blevins of Austintown, her sister Jane Self of North Carolina and two brothers-in-law, Rev. Arthur Grahe and Steve Magor both of York, Pennsylvania and their families.
Janet was preceded in death by both parents who died of natural causes. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, John Blevins, Mary Grahe and Helen Magor all whose battles with mental illness resulted in suicide.
