Janet R. Ilas

Jane R. Ilas, 87 Janet R. Ilas, 87 of Youngstown died Thursday afternoon at Omni Manor Health Care Center. Janet was born March 27, 1931 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Donald Ellis and Stella Egolf Clapp and was a lifelong area resident. Janet graduated from South High School in 1949 and worked as a payroll clerk for Truscon/Republic Steel for 32 years. She enjoyed golfing and playing bridge and was also an avid knitter. Her husband, John T."Jack" Ilas, whom she married February 16, 1963, died January 30, 2006. Janet leaves three nephews, Donald, Greg and Jeff Ellis; two nieces, Shellie Pitman and Debbie White; six great nephews, Jason DeRose, Greg, Garret, Donny, Jeff and Josh Ellis and three great nieces, Brianna Sipple, Chelsea and Brittany Ellis. Janet also leaves five great-great nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, Donald "Gene" Ellis and a great niece, Sarah DeRose. There will be private services at a later date. The family would like to thank Omni Manor for their love and care given to Janet and also a special thanks to Hospice of the Valley.
