Janice E. Kunkle

Janice E. Kunkle, 89, of Austintown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on November 30, 2024. Janice was born March 17, 1935 in Austintown, the daughter of the late Robert “Ed” and Anna (Yates) Boyer and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated in 1953 from Austintown Fitch High School, and in 1954, Janice married Morris D. Kunkle. She was a homemaker who devoted her life to raising her seven children and serving her community and church, Four Mile Run Christian Church, where she ran both the nursery and the kitchen.

Janice is survived by six of her children: Jeffrey M. (Debra) Kunkle of Choctaw, OK; Morris D. “Rusty” (Valerie) Kunkle Jr. of Canfield; Mark E. Kunkle of Austintown; Barbara E. (David) Ranttila of Canfield; Robert L. (Diane) Kunkle of Austintown; and Richard A. (Susan) Kunkle of Canfield; 12 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five sisters: Lillian Divelbiss, Elizabeth Ann Genetta, Nancy Welch, Judy Kaiser and Kareene Conway. Janice also leaves a special friend, Mike (Doris) Rigby and their two daughters of Canfield.Besides her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Morris D.. Kunkle; her son, Matthew S. Kunkle; five sisters: Claire Mae Boyer, Barbara Phillips, Kathryn Johnson, Alice Kochera, Anna Rick and a brother, Robert Boyer, Jr.

Friends may call on Thursday, December 5th from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 10:45 a.m, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m.at Lane Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes be made to Akeso Home Hospice, 6600 Summit Dr., Canfield, OH 44406. The family would like to thank Victoria House Staff for their wonderful care and support given to their mother.
