Jean A. Stryffeler, 89, of Canfield, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, February 18, 2025, at her residence.
Jean was born on June 16, 1935, in Austintown, a daughter of the late Benjamin F. and Alice Belle (Wormley) Hunt. She was a lifelong resident of the area, graduating from Jackson Milton High School in 1953. Jean worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers National Bank for several years before dedicating her time to various community activities.
A devoted member of Canfield United Methodist Church, Jean volunteered for the church bazaar and was an active member of the United Methodist Women Group (UMW). She played a key role in organizing the church’s recycling program prior to its move to the township. Jean was also a passionate leader, serving as a Girl Scout leader and 4-H Advisor.. In her spare time, Jean enjoyed crafting, creating Christmas ornaments and dried flower arrangements.
Above all, Jean was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She treasured spending time with her family and found joy in caring for her grandchildren. Jean leaves behind her husband of nearly 68 years, Dale W. Stryffeler, whom she married on March 23, 1957. She is also survived by her three daughters, Lori (Greg) Moff of Canfield, Jane (Steve) Moff of Columbiana, and Jill (Tom) Keller of Napoleon, OH; her son, Dale B. (Barb) Stryffeler of Columbiana; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Jean is also survived by two brothers, Norman (Anna Mae) Hunt of North Jackson, and Ronald (Deene) Hunt of Canfield; a sister, Mary Ann Evans of Salem; and a sister-in-law, Mary Ellen Hunt of Austintown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, David Hunt.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, from 2-4 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, and on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 10:00-10:45 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Canfield United Methodist Memorial Fund.
