Jeannette R. "Chick" Giovanni, 87
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown-Mineral Ridge Rd., Mineral Ridge for Jeannette R. Giovanni, 87 of Austintown who died early Sunday morning at Hospice House. Jeannette, known as "Chick" was born April 15, 1932 in Hubbard, a daughter of the late Alva and Ruth (Huff) Lowry and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Hubbard High School in 1951 and was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. Jeannette had worked at Packard Electric for 13 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of Ohltown United Methodist Church, the Mission Committee of the church, the United Methodist Womens Group, and the Peace Keepers Sunday School Class. Jeannette was very active in the church and had volunteered in many different ways from baking to organizing Thanksgiving dinners for the parishioners. She was a life member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Chapters, D, M, and 12 and was known as the chapter grandmother for chapter M and 12; a member of the Honeybees Ladies Little Trike Team and loved to ride motorcycles with her late husband. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and loved to play cards. Jeannette especially loved cooking and spending time with her family. Her husband, Daniel Giovanni whom she married July 18, 1953, died December 29, 2002. She leaves her daughter, Robin (Vic Daprile) Craciun of Canfield; a son, Daniel R. (Crystal) Giovanni of Youngstown ; three grandchildren, Denise (Mark) Causer, Alyssa (Loreto) Sebastiani, Justin Craciun; four great-grandchildren, Jack, Loreto, Giovanna, and Francesca. She also leaves a sister, Donna (Atty. Martin) Goldberg of Palm Desert, California; three brothers, Richard (Rena) Lowry of Hubbard, David (Rae) Lowry of Brookfield and Robert (Sherry ) Lowry of Akron. Besides her parents and her husband, Jeannette was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Giovanni; sister, Norma Cramer. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m - 7:00 pm at Ohltown United Methodist Church and on Thursday from 10-11 am followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m The family requests material tributes take the form of contributions to Hospice of the Vally, 5190 Market Street, Boardman, OH 44512. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel.
