Joan C. McIntosh, 92 of Boardman passed away early Friday morning, March 15, 2024 at Briarfield Place.Joan was born October 11, 1931 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late John and Mary (Johnson) Toman and was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1949.
Joan had worked at the former Youngstown Club for 20 years, where she had been the first woman manager. She was a member of St. Christine Parish and the First Friday Club of Greater Youngstown.
Joan was preceded in death by her husband of over 70 years, William K. McIntosh, whom she married on January 10, 1950, died December 27, 2022. She leaves to cherish her memory; her children Susan Howson, Thomas McIntosh, Jim (Shirley) McIntosh, and Dr. Robert (Rita) McIntosh; her grandchildren David (Mackenzie) Howson, Bay McIntosh, Hunter McIntosh, Lauren McIntosh, Jillian McIntosh, Christian McIntosh, and Connor McIntosh. Joan also leaves her beloved sister, Mary Ann Pillin; a sister-in-law, Catherine(William) Welsh and a brother-in-law, Robert (Elizabeth) McIntosh. Besides her parents and her husband, Joan was preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Howson and brother-in-law, Carl Pillin.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 19th from 5-7 p.m. at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel. Prayers will be 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at Lane Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 11:00 a.m. at St. Christine Parish. The family would like to give a special thanks to Ed and Diane Reese of Briarfield Place and their outstanding staff of caregivers for their loving and gentle care given to their mother.
