There will be services at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 23rd at First Covenant Church for Joan Rosenquist Gluck, 93, who died Saturday, March 9th at Sunrise. Joan was born on February 13, 1926, the daughter of Caroline Berquist Rosenquist and Charles John Rosenquist. She grew up in Youngstown and lived here all her life. She attended and graduated from South High School in 1944 and became active with her class reunions in 1994. Joan was a lifelong member of First Covenant Church. During her lifetime she served on the deaconate and as the Treasurer for the Memorial Fund. She was a member of Covenant Woman. For many years she served in various capacities at the annual Lucia Program. In later years she enjoyed going to church and worked with the Rip-and-Roll group. Whenever anyone visited Joans home either in Youngstown or at the Lake Home in Madison, Ohio, the coffee pot was always brewing for friends and family to enjoy. She was known for her famous rice pudding, Swedish peppakakors and pickled herring. In her younger years Joan worked for Lustigs Shoe Store in downtown Youngstown and for the Greyhound Bus Company. In 1947 Joan married John Albert Gluck. After her marriage to Al Gluck she devoted her life to being a homemaker and mother. In 1969, she began to work for Sears as a telephone catalog sales person and retired from Sears in 1987 after 17 years. In raising her children Joan was involved with the P.T.A. organizations at their schools. She was a Girl Scout Leader for her daughter's Brownie Troup and a Cub Scout Leader for her son's Cub Scout Troop. In 1949, the Gluck's purchased a home on Lake Erie in Madison, Ohio and spent many wonderful summers there entertaining family and friends. In 1989, Joans children had a surprise party for her and her husband Al, inviting many family and friends to join in the celebration of 40 years on Lake Erie. Around 1996, Joan and her daughter began spending various weekends and holidays at the Lake during the year. She loved being at the Lake and entertaining family and friends. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Albert (Al) Gluck, brother, Charles (Jack) Rosenquist Jr. and sister, Eloise Caroline Rosenquist. During her time spent at Sunrise, Joan was grateful for the cards, gifts and visits from family and friends. Joan will be missed by her family and friends along with the dimples she had when she was smiling. We are grateful that she is now at peace in her eternal home with the Lord in Heaven.
