Johanna M. Monroe

Mrs. Johanna M. Monroe, 84, of Vienna, OH, passed away Sunday afternoon January 1, 2012 at her home She was born in Vienna, OH on July 2, 1927, a daughter of Fredrick and Janette (Basil) Jackson. She attended Vienna Schools and would go onto marry William D. Monroe on November 18, 1948. Together they would share more than forty-eight years of marriage and their six children. Johanna was a longtime member of the Vienna United Methodist Church. She enjoyed going dancing, crocheting, working puzzles, and was an excellent cook and baker. Above all she loved to spend time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by her children Thomas Monroe and his wife Linda of Niles, Janet Morgan of Niles, Donald Monroe and his wife Michele of Mineral Ridge, Cheryl Sembach of Howland, David Monroe and his wife Linda of Howland, and Tammie Fiest and her husband Tom of Vienna; her two sisters Kathleen Taylor of Champion and Winifred Hamler of Vienna; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband William, her sister Doris Money, and her son-in-law David Sembach. Calling hours for family and friends will be held on Wednesday evening January 4, 2012 from 5-8:00PM at the Niles Chapel of Lane Funeral Homes at 415 Robbins Avenue Niles, Ohio. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday morning January 5, 2012 at the funeral home with the Rev. Cathy Ake of the Vienna United Methodist Church as officiant. Burial will take place with her husband at the Pineview Memorial Park. As an expression of sympathy the family request that any contributions be made to MVI Hospice or to the Vienna United Methodist Church.
