NILES – Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 10:30 am at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel for John A. McElhaney of 516 Ward Avenue in Niles who died at his residence early Wednesday morning. John was born August 11, 1921 in South Connelsville, Pennsylvania the son of Howard and Katherine (Breegle) McElhaney. John is a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served as a paratrooper in WWII and was retired after spending many years employed as a construction worker for DeMathews construction company and L.T. Boccia construction. John was also a member of the First Church of God in Mineral Ridge. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, woodworking, taking walks and visits with his family and friends. Mr. McElhaney is survived by his loving wife Patricia (Henderson) McElhaney who he married on December 8, 1962. He also leaves a daughter Sandra Telshaw- Clay and a son Johnny D. McElhaney (Marsha) both of Niles along with 7 grandchildren Trina (Gary) Telshaw-Mechling, George (Heather) Telshaw, Corey (Pam) Telshaw, Stacey (Tim) Scibelli, Jared Clay, Vicky McElhaney and Judy McElhaney John also leaves 8 Great grandchildren Brandi, Sabrina and Cassandra Mechling,Brittany and Devin Telshaw, Tyler and Tessa Telshaw and Amber Lamb. He is preceded in death by his parents and 4 sisters, Fern Busse, Harriet Maurer, Margaret Fellows- Evensky and Emily Wratteric. He is also preceded in death by 2 brothers Clyde McElhaney and George McElhaney along with his great granddaughter Kayla Telshaw. The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley. Friends may call at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel on Thursday from 6:00 - 9:00 PM
