John C. Schwarten

John C. "Jack" Schwarten, 79 Funeral services will 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel for John C. Schwarten, 79 of Canfield who died Saturday evening at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown. John, known as Jack was born August 3, 1939 in Youngstown, a son of the late John C. and Helen (Gubic) Schwarten and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1957 and served in the United States Marine Corps. Jack worked for the Plumbers and Steamfitters Union for 40 years, retiring in 2002. Jack was a member of the Washingtonville VFW. His hobbies included working on old cars with his brother and making things out of horse shoes. He enjoyed riding his horses and camping at Beaver Creek State Park, but most important was spending time with his family, especially with his grandchildren. He leaves his wife, the former Linda L. Lawler, whom he married April 7 1962; a daughter, Jennifer (James) Stear of Canfield; a son, Jeff (Sandy) Schwarten of Salem; two grandchildren, Jordan and Josh and a sister, Nancy Zwarcyz of Willoughby Hills. Besides his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a sister, Eleanor Schwarten and a brother, James Schwarten. Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m.
