John E. Ballantyne

AUSTINTOWN—Funeral services will be held 5:00 PM Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Mr. John E. Ballantyne Sr., 90, formerly of Nantucket Dr., who passed away Thursday evening at Austinwoods Care Center. John was born October 3, 1912 in Wilkinsburg, PA, the son of James V. and Lyda Rigg Ballantyne, coming to this area in 1968. He had worked as a security guard for both the Ohio Security Co. and Burns Security. John and his wife had also owned and operated their own display business. He was an Army veteran. His wife, the former Jane G. Gillespie, whom he married in 1942 died in 1995. He is survived by a daughter, Bonnie B. Carlson of Morgantown, W. VA and one son, John (Jack) E. Ballantyne Jr. of Austintown, one sister, Dorothy Milliken of Pittsburgh and two grandchildren, Carl Carlson of Morgantown W. VA. and Mark Carlson of Durham, NC. Two brothers, James and Rigg Ballantyne preceded him in death. Friends may call from 4 to 5 PM Monday at the funeral home. The family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations to Austinwoods Health Care Center.
