John Ernest Koehler

Canfield- A Memorial service will be held on Monday at 7:00 PM at the Boardman Christian Church for John E. Koehler who passed away Saturday morning. Mr. Koehler was born December 16, 1916 in Stamford Connecticut the son of Ernest R. and Emily Schiemann Koehler. He graduated from Stamford High School in June 1933 and was employed shortly after by Pitney Bowes in Stamford where he retired as properties Manager in January of 1980 after nearly 47 years of service. He and his beloved wife of 43 years, Olive Griebel Koehler, moved to Homosassa, FL. in June of 1980. A few years after Olive’s untimely death in January of 1981, John married Alma L. Babcock who passed away on September 6, 2001 after nineteen years of marriage. Beloved father of three children, John is survived by a daughter Patricia Layda of Canfield and two sons: J. Drew Koehler of Woodbridge, VA. and Bruce R. Koehler of Stamford, CT. He is also survived by two sisters: Polly Esposito and Elsa Lopiano as well as four grandsons: Drew and Blake Layda, and Jeff and Tom Koehler.
