John H. Blaney, 91 of Warren, died Tuesday afternoon, February 5, 2019, at his home. He was born April 15, 1927 in Masontown, West Virginia the son of the late Okey and Mary Olive Mayfield Blaney. He had been a Trumbull county resident since 1954, coming from Masontown, WVa. John was a graduate of Masontown High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre during World War II, serving near the Bikini Atoll Islands during the U.S. atomic testing. John served on the USS Ingraham. He was an independent insurance agent, owning Blaney Insurance Agency for 30 years, retiring in 1992. He was an over 50 year member of Grace United Methodist Church, serving in many church offices over the years. He was a longtime member of the IOOF (Odd Fellows Lodge) in Warren, where he had served as treasurer and a member of the BPOElks Lodge No. 295 in Warren. He had been active with the USS Ingraham, DD-694, reunion group. He was an active league bowler and loved watching basketball, baseball and college football. John was an avid West Virginia Mountaineers and Pittsburgh Pirates fan. He enjoyed being a "city gardener", enjoying vegetable gardening. Jon is survived by his wife of nearly 47 years, Eileen M. Bartholomew Blaney, whom he married June 28, 1972; one son, Brian H. (Donna) Blaney of Southington; one daughter, Chayo E. (Anthony) Montalvo of Huxley, Tenn.; six grandchildren, Miriah, Ashley, Wesley, Mary, Matthew and Amber; one brother, James (Dottie) Blaney of Seffner, Fla. and his beloved dog, Mikey from Masontown. One grandson, Lucas Blaney and two brothers, Wayne and Joseph Blaney have all preceded him in death. The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Grace United Methodist Church, where the family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service time. Pastor Ken Kubichek will officiate. Inurnment will be at Crown Hill Burial Park mausoleum at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. The family wishes to thank the members of All Caring Hospice for the compassionate and loving care shown to John.
