John I. Zdelar Sr.

John I. Zdelar Sr., 88, of Brookfield, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday afternoon, August 22, 2011 at Liberty Health Care Center. Mr. Zdelar was born on February 10, 1923 in Farrell, PA, the son of Stephen Palisak and Helen (Rataic) Zdelar-Palisak. John attended Brookfield Schools and had worked for G.A.T.X. in Masury, OH as a welder for more than nineteen years. For over seventy-five years of his life, he was a dairy cattle and beef farmer on his family farm of which he was very proud of and was known for keeping immaculate farm fields and fences as well as his landscaping around his families home. He was a member of Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Vienna, OH, the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #126 in Farrell, PA and the Farm Bureau. In his leisure time he often enjoyed listening to Croatian music, various Polkas, wood carpentry and working with his Farmall Tractors. John will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of more than fifty-seven years Mary Yazvac whom he married on November 28, 1953 in Draganic, Croatia; two sons Joseph Zdelar and his companion Ruth, John Zdelar and his wife Kimberly all of Brookfield,; two sisters Mary Hubish of Brookfield, and Pauline Yasnowski of Sharpsville, PA, three step-grandchildren Paige, Seth, and Evan; four nieces and nine nephews; and by several great-nieces and great-nephews. . He was preceded in death by his parents. In accordance with John's wishes a private funeral service will be held on Friday August 26, 2011 at the Madasz Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Denis Bouchard officiating. A private burial will follow at the Brookfield Township Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy any contributions may be made John's memory to either Queen of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church or to Hospice of the Valley Trumbull County Chapter.
