JOHN JOSEPH KLACIK JR Age 90 Austintown- A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of John Klacik will be held at 11am Tuesday October 16 at St Joseph Catholic Church. John passed away Sunday evening at his residence. He was born May 20, 1928 in the family log cabin on Kirk Rd. the son of John Joseph Sr. and Mary Stegena Klacik and was a lifelong Austintown resident. John graduated from Austintown Fitch in 1946, where he was a member of the National Honor Society. He was proud to serve his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950-1952. John worked as a carpenter, building many homes in the Canfield area in the late 1950s and 60s, he enjoyed wood working and remodeling homes. He retired from the Austintown School system after 33 years as a janitor and maintenance employee at the "original" Fitch High School later Austintown Middle School. He was able to witness the demolition process of AMS. John was a former member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Canfield. After his retirement they moved to Lakeland, FL. where he was a member of St. Anthony . John and Rose returned to Austintown in 2007 to be close to family and friends and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. John was always an active member of the mens club, serving as usher, bingo worker/caller and a member of the Knights of Columbus earning the 4th degree. John enjoyed traveling especially to the Grand Ole Opry, Nashville, cruising with the in-laws, going to casinos and bingo, working puzzles, word search books and listening to country music. On October 14, 1950 he married Rose Marie Jasecko in Holy Trinity Church in Struthers. Together they had five children; Velma Glista, John "Ed" (Maria) Klacik, Rachelle (Gary) Sinn, Richard (Terri) Klacik and Cheryl (David) Bernard. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul, grandson John Klacik IV, son- in -law Leonard Glista, sister- in- laws Donna Klacik, Rose Ann Jasecko and brothers- in laws- Ben Martini and Victor Tomich. Family and friends may call from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel prior to the mass at St. Joseph Church. The Klacik family requests that memorial tributes take the form of donations to Hospice of the Valley in Johns name.
