John J. Peterson, Sr.

MECCA TOWNSHIP- John J. Peterson, Sr., age 78, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown. John was born March 26, 1940 in Mecca Township to the late John H. and Irene B. (McCool) Peterson Ebbs. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1958 to 1964. John was a fulltime fireman serving Champion from 1966-1968. He retired from General Motors in 1996 after 28 years of employment. John enjoyed hunting, guns, and motorcycles. He was an Endowed Member of the NRA and a Life Member of the North American Hunting Club. John was a member of the House of Praise in Newton Falls. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers Elwood, John, and James Peterson, and his sister Rosalyn N. Peterson. He is survived by his children, Tammie L. Landacre of Champion, and John J. Peterson, Jr. of Caldwell, Ohio, and seven grandchildren. Friends may call 6-8PM Thursday, January 10th at the Lane Funeral Home, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. NE in Warren. The funeral service will be 11AM Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Jerry Cotrell officiant. Interment in Champion Township Cemetery.
