A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Tuesday at St. Joseph Church for John Louis Lightner, 77, of Austintown who passed away peacefully Friday morning at Briarfield Manor. John was born August 1, 1941 in Campbell, the son of the late John and Anna (Geletka) Lightner. He was a graduate of Campbell Memorial and obtained a Bachelors Degree from Youngstown State in Chemical Engineering. Prior to retirement, John was a Material Engineer for Packard Electric for over 30 years. John enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He had many interests which included reading books, amateur radio, gardening and cooking. He was a member of the Salem Gun Club, Eastern Ohio Gun Club and St. Joseph Church. John leaves his children John Lightner of Austintown and Tricia (Rob) Kernan of Texas; his sisters Carole Lightner of Campbell and Debbie Marcum of Struthers; and his grandchildren Olivia and Lauren Kernan. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Saxon) Lightner, whom he married July 18, 1964 and celebrated over 50 years of marriage, and died April 27, 2015. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 - 11:00 AM Tuesday morning at St. Joseph Church in Austintown preceding church services.
