John M. Polak, age 71, of Austintown, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, November 18, 2018. Born February 26, 1947 in Youngstown; he was the son of Michael and Mary (Janosko) Polak. John was a member of St. Joseph Parish where he served as an usher and Eucharistic Minister; he participated in Mens Renewal and was active in the Mens Club. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Military Policeman in South Korea. He was an avid bowler with a 300 game. He was a member Jednota Club and the Slovak Catholic Sokol. He also loved to golf, play cards, and attend horse races. Survivors include his wife, the love of his life, of 48 years, Maria (Klucar); three daughters: Donnamarie (Brian) Shilling, Maria Anna (Michael Balog) Polak, and Adelka (Justin Perlman) Polak; 2 grandchildren, Spencer and Madison Shilling; two brothers, Joseph (Patty) and Michael (Sally) Polak; as well as numerous nephews and nieces. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings: Helen Johnjulio, Andrew Polak, Mary McHugh, Jane Cefalde, and Peter Polak. Friends will be received at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel on Tuesday from 5-7PM; Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Joseph Church, 4545 New Rd, Austintown, 44515, friends will also be received one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
