John R Mamula, III, age 64, of Niles passed away suddenly on Monday, July 8, 2024, from a tragic motorcycle accident. He was born in Warren, Ohio on July 22, 1959, to the late John R Mamula Jr and Gail Taylor Mamula Seekins.
Always devoted to his family, he was a loving and caring partner, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Making memories with his family and friends was what he enjoyed most about life. He was a proud member of the Lutheran faith.
As a graduate of Niles McKinley High School, class of 1978, John then attended Theil College and enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserve. He was incredibly hard working and had an entrepreneurial spirit, having owned many businesses throughout his life. As a proud Millwright, John worked for Republic Steel (WCI) until he transitioned to Cleveland Cliffs. He enjoyed attending local and professional sporting events.
John loved to give back to his community and to his country; he served as Commander of the Army & Navy Union Garrison 252 and attended many charitable events, donating to those organizations in which he believed strongly. John constantly pursued character and leadership growth with training from Klemmer & Associates as well as many other sources, his driving desire to help those around him to “be better” is a large part of his legacy. As a skilled creator, he took great pleasure in building things, for example the barbeque machine he built with his father and brother. Family barbeques were one of the highlights of his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed riding his Harley, traveling, and attending the theater with his loved ones.
John will always be loved and missed by those who were blessed to have known him.
His parents, his stepfather, Bill Seekins, and his best friend, Joe Connell, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his children, Lisa, Vanessa, and Mitchell Mamula; life partner, Mary Jane Cech; grandchildren, Cailyn and Patrick Ryan Kenney; siblings, Marti (Charles) Bergana, Rochelle (Tim) Gallo, Kevin (Lisa) Mamula, Danielle (Fred) Noday, and his much-loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and his former wife, Karen Mamula.
John’s smothering hugs, pesky side pokes and mischievous grin will forever be a cherished memory.
