John Patrick Taylor, 65, passed away early Saturday morning October 26 while on vacation in Gettysburg, PA. John was born August 29, 1954 in Santa Ana, California, the son of Edward B. and Teresa (Southworth) Taylor. John retired in 2018 as a fire inspector with the Youngstown Air Reserve Station. John spent twenty years of his life in service to the U.S. Military. He was an Air Force veteran serving from 1975 to 1994. Prior to working with the Youngstown Air Reserve Base, John was an assistant fire chief with the U.S. Air Force and traveled around the world, stationed at Montgomery AL, Zweibrucken, Germany, Grissom, IN, March Air Force Base in Riverside, CA, George Air Force Base in Victorville, CA, Kunsan Air Force Base in Korea and Anderson Air Force Base in Guam. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Mineral Ridge and its men club. His hobbies included working on cars and he was an avid history buff. John leaves his wife, the former Frances E. Dolan whom he married August 24, 1976, four children Breanna Taylor of Mineral Ridge, James Taylor of Boardman, Jason Taylor of Tennessee and Josh Taylor of California. John also leaves six siblings, Edward, Chris, Denny, Sharon, Diana, and Shirley, as well as three grand pups, Theo, Freya, and Buster and two grand cats, J.J. and Nuggs. John is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Dan. Friends and family may call from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, November 1 at Lane Funeral Homes, Mineral Ridge Chapel. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 AM Saturday, November 2, at St. Mary’s Church.
