A Masonic service will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018 at 1 PM at the Aut Mori Grotto Hall, 563 North Belle Vista Avenue Youngstown, Ohio 44509, for John Penn Tyree, 72, who passed away Tuesday morning, October 23, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. John was born January 31, 1946 in Naomi, WV, the son of the late Frank Penn and Mary Evelyn (Taylor) Tyree. He served as a Gunners Mate, GMG 3/E4 in the U.S. Navy from 1963 until 1967. John retired from General Motors Lordstown in 1990 where he worked on the assembly line. He was a member of the UAW, the Sulgrave Lodge #696 of the Masons, and the Aut Mori Grotto in Youngstown and was a Grotto clown. John was also a member of the NRA, and an avid golfer. He leaves his wife, the former Cheryl Faye Shultz, whom he married August 2, 1980, three sons, John P. Tyree Jr. of Seattle, WA, Kenneth R. Tyree of Cleveland, and Frank L. (Sharon) Tyree of Dewy Rose, GA, two step sons, Paul E. (Elizabeth) Menhart Jr. of Canfield, and Joseph E. Menhart of Youngstown, two sisters, Judy Meadows of North Royalton, and Debbie Faranci, of Florida, as well as six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Gary and James Tyree and one sister Wanda Meadows. Family and friends will gather at the Aut Mori Grotto Hall on Friday where a Masonic services will be held at 1 PM. The family would like send a special thank you to Johns Masonic Brothers for always being there and lending him a helping hand.
