AUSTINTOWN----Funeral services will be held 2:30 PM Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, for Mr. John R. Arnold, 76, who passed away Thursday at Forum Northside Health Care Center. John was born Sept 12, 1926 in Youngstown, the son of John R. and Mildred Walker Arnold. He had been employed as truck driver for Associated Truck Lines retiring in 1982. John had worked in all facets of transportation including a Youngstown bus driver in the 1950’s, and trolley operator in San Francisco. He was proud of holding his private pilots license and was the last instated Youngstown Police Dept. Aux. Officer. John was past Post Commander of the Sharpsville American Legion Post # 162 and a 32nd degree Mason belonging to the Argus Lodge 545. He was also an avid hobbyist building model ships. Mr. Arnold had served on board the USS Gunison DE795 while in the Navy during WWII and later joined the United States Air Force after the war. He attended the Canfield Christian Church. His wife the former Lorena M. Lynn whom he married Oct. 9, 1948 died Nov. 6, 1998. He is survived by three sons, John R. and Randall W. Arnold both of Youngstown and James H. Arnold of Berlin Center, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A sister, JoAnne Savage preceded him in death. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 Sunday and one hour before services on Monday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel where the Argus Lodge will conduct prayer services 9:00 PM Sunday.
