John Scott Bond

January 3, 1956 — March 2, 2019

John S. Bond, 63 of Howland Township, passed away Saturday morning, March 2, 2019, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital with his sister by his side. He was born January 13, 1956 in Warren, the son of the late Samuel John and Helen D. Marshall Bond. He had been a Howland resident most of his life. John was a 1974 graduate of Howland High School and received an associate degree from the Warren Business College. He served as a PFC in the U.S. Army military police from 1979 to 1982 with citations as a marksman and sharpshooter. He worked for Wean United as one of his first jobs and after his tenure in the Army, worked for many years as a delivery driver for several businesses until his retirement. John was a member of Howland Community Church since childhood. He enjoyed golfing on area leagues, bowling and was an avid Cleveland Browns and Cavaliers and New York Yankees fan. He was a sports enthusiast and enjoyed writing and literature, being a prolific writer. John loved reading and music and played the bass guitar and had played the drums. He also enjoyed the outdoors and photography. Left to cherish Johns memory is his loving sister, Lesley and little Effie, who will miss him dearly. Also surviving are several cousins and their families in Canada and the U.K. and dear friends, David and Flo Sharp and their sons from Canada. His father, Samuel preceded on December 27, 2011 and his mother, Helen preceded him in death on July 3, 2012. Per John's wishes cremation was held and there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later time. Inurnment will be at the Crown Hill Burial Park mausoleum in Vienna. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
