Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown chapel for John W. "Bill" Schuller, 86 of Austintown who died Thursday afternoon at Austinwoods Nursing Center. Bill was born August 8, 1931 in New Bedford, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Martin and Marie (Span) Schuller. He graduated from The Rayen High School in January 1951 and joined the United States Army following graduation. Bill served during the Korean War as a radio operator for a Heavy Mortor Co. in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. After his discharge from the Army, Bill joined the Rangers to further his training. Bill had worked at General Motors on the Assembly Line, where he was retired and had previously worked for Commercial Shearing. Bill was also a chauffeur for Fab Limo 11 years and was known as the "Silver Fox." He was a Little League Baseball Coach for 17 years; also managing his own team and served on the Board of Directors. Bill was involved with the Boy Scouts and was a former Cub Master for Pack 40 in Austintown and served on the Board of Directors of Camp Stambaugh. Bill was a member of the Youngstown Saxon Club and served in various positions as trustee, librarian, third vice-president and president of Branch 30 for four years. He was also chosen as man of the year in 2006. Bill was a member of the Austintown Eagles Aeries #3295 ; the Catholic War Vets and the American Legion. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf and bocce. He leaves his wife, the former Thelma (Rhiel) whom he married in December 1980; a daughter, Lynne (Marc) Veynovich of Pompano Beach, Florida; a son, Scott Schuller of Austintown; a step-daughter, Janel (Keith) Sletvold and a step-son, William Koonse, both of Austintown; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a brother, Martin R. "Dick" Schuller. Friends may call on Monday from 6-8 p.m. at Lane Family Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel and from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.
