Joseph C. Ruess Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Gibson Heights 2nd United Presbyterian Church, for Joseph C. Ruess Jr., 73, of Struthers who went home to be with his Lord on Friday August 31, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital - Mercy Health Main Campus. Joe was born November 19, 1944 in Youngstown the son of the late Joseph C. Ruess Sr. and Madeline Eva (Lester) Testa. He worked at Wean United, retiring in 1999. Joe was a member of the church and was an avid bowler and loved fishing before he got sick. Joe was a Navy Veteran serving from 1961 until 1964. He leaves his wife of 52 years, the former Margaret Shaffer, whom he married October 23, 1965, Joe also leaves four children, Lisa (Jack Lopatta) Liller of Struthers, Joe (Rose) Ruess III of Girard, Bill (Angie) Ruess of Struthers, and Adam (Ashli Zinkhon) Ruess of Alliance, one sister, Patty (Ron) Patrick of Poland, as well as 14 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Madeline as well as his stepfather,, William Testa, and his stepmother, Minnie Ruess. Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home , Boardman Chapel, and again on Wednesday from 10 AM until 11 AM at the Gibson Heights 2nd United Presbyterian Church, where services will begin at 11 AM.
