Canfield-Funeral services will be held at 10 am Monday in St. Michaels Church for Joseph Chichak of Canfield who died Friday evening in St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Joseph was born March 21, 1916 in Youngstown the son of Michael and Elizabeth (Stash) Chichak and was a life long area resident. Joseph retired in 1977 from US Steel Ohio Works as first helper in the open hearth department after 36 years. He was a member of St. Michaels Church in Canfield where he was an usher for many years and belonged to the Men’s club of the church. He was an avid golfer, golfing in the Sam Camens Golf League, he also loved to fish with his good friend Howard Trigg in Canada, a member of AARP Canfield Chapter 3104, WWII Navy Veteran and a member of the John Buckley Catholic War Vets. He is survived by his wife Anna (Troxil) whom he married May 10, 1941, sisters Mrs. August Giovanni and Mary Snyder both of Youngstown and many nieces and nephews. One sister Anna Gane and three brothers John, Michael and George Chichak preceded him in death. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel. The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of donations to the church.
