JOSEPH R. GRANCHIE BOARDMAN--There will be services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Anstrom Chapel in Boardman for Joseph R. "Porkey" Granchie, 75, who died Monday evening at St. Mary's Alzheimer Center. Mr. Granchie was born November 9, 1940 in Youngstown, a son of Joseph W. and Mildred Slifka Granchie. Joe was a 1958 graduate of Lowellville High School. He was a steel mill crane operator and worked for various mills, retiring November 9, 2005. Joe was an active member of First Covenant Church where he worked as the church custodian following his retirement and enjoyed serving as an usher. He was an avid golfer and bowled in many leagues, he once sanctioned a "300" game. Joe also coached little league baseball and enjoyed traveling, visiting casinos, and loved "oldies" music. He leaves his wife of 11 years, the former Dorothy Pearson Wyant, whom he married July 31, 2004; his sons, Joseph W. (Lisa) Granchie of Boardman and John S. (Debrah) Granchie of Marion, Iowa; his stepchildren, Eric (Cathy) Wyant of Twinsburg, Tracy Wyant of Canfield, and Karla Wyant of Youngstown; his sister, Judy (Ronald) Lombardo; his grandchildren, Lauren, Maria, Joseph, Noel, Bonnie, and Johnny Granchie, and Matthew and Christopher Delahunty; and his step grandchildren, Kristen and Brandon Wyant, Evan Skripac, and Justin Dudley. Beside his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his stepmother, Mary Mickler Granchie and his first wife, Margaret, whom he married in April 1961, died in October 2002. Friends may call from 5 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday and from 10:30 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday prior to the service.
