Joseph Robert Soltesiz, III, "Josh", of Boardman, Ohio, walked into the loving arms of his Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at the age of 35. Josh died unexpectedly in Youngstown, Ohio surrounded by his family, after a long battle with addiction. He was born on April 15, 1982 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Joseph and Patricia (Watson) Soltesiz. Josh grew up in Canfield, Ohio. He later moved to Johnson City , Tennessee, where he attended and graduated from Science Hill High School with honors. After high school, Josh actively served for the United States Navy and had the opportunity to be stationed in many parts across the U.S. Following his service in the Navy, Josh attended Youngstown State University, where he studied business management. From his grandfather, Josh inherited a passion for golfing. He was an avid golfer and really found happiness when he could spend his afternoons on the golf course with his dad Jody and brother Travis. According to his grandfather, Joe, Josh had the most "perfect golf swing." Josh enjoyed watching movies, going to the beach (especially Siesta Key, FL), watching the Steelers, and caring for his bulldog nephew "Conan the Barbarian". Josh had an unquenchable thirst for life; for living, for experiencing. Always a smile on his face, Josh loved to meet and spend time with people. He touched so many lives, making friends wherever he went. People were his passion. Josh was always the first person to greet you with a big hug and the last person to tell you that he loved you. He always made sure that you heard him tell you that he loved you, usually saying it more than once. He also loved to talk on the phone and had been known to talk to his mom usually twice every day. Among those Josh will leave behind are his mother, Patricia Soltesiz of Ocala and his father, Joseph R. Soltesiz, Jr. of Boardman; his sister, Carrie (Luke) Draeger of Seattle; his brother, Travis Soltesiz of Boardman; his paternal grandmother, Nanette Soltesiz of Columbiana; his maternal grandmother, Bonnie O'Brien of Denver; his 2 nephews, Samuel and Isaac Draeger (Seattle); many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Josh was preceded in death by his paternal great grandparents, Joseph and Norma Soltesiz, Youngstown; paternal grandfather, Joseph R. Soltesiz, Boardman; and his brother, Preston James Soltesiz. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Lane Funeral Home in Canfield, Ohio on Thursday, July 20, 2017. Calling hours for family and friends will be held from 4-5 pm. Celebration service will be held from 5-6 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic, 2151 Rush Blvd., Youngstown, Ohio 44507. Josh had a long battle with addiction, and his life was ended way too soon. Please consider making a donation in Josh's name to help save another life from the thief of addiction.
