Judy Katherine Powers of Canfield, Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at 6:11 PM surrounded by her very close friends. Judy was born November 5, 1944 in Atlanta, Georgia to Franklin Irving Powers and Jerylie Hendrix Powers. She’s a 1962 graduate of Bay high school in Bay Village, Ohio. After graduation, Judy attended Ohio University. Judy resided in Virginia Beach Virginia, where she worked for the US Coast Guard auxiliary. She then moved to Pensacola Florida, where she worked for the Pensacola naval air station from 1975 to 1977. Judy received a paralegal associates degree in science-legal assistant at Pensacola Junior college in 1983. Her passion for horses came from her time spent in Florida, even later becoming a horse trainer. Judy loved all animals and always made generous donations to many charities in their honor. Judy enjoyed gardening, but was especially fond of her tulips. Judy is survived by her brother Franklin Michael Powers of Canfield, Ohio; a sister Elizabeth A. Tarr; niece Ashley E. Tarr and nephew Rodger L. Tarr of Florida and Brittney L Henderson of Salem, Ohio, who she thought of as a daughter. To live life in its fullest in her honor are her beloved friends, Jeanette Hendershot of Lake Milton, Ohio. Janet White of Niles, Ohio. Sue Luetcke of Viroqua, Wisconsin. Jeannie Wellman of Canfield, Ohio and Diane Prince of Virginia Beach, Virginia. Per Judy ‘s request, she will be laid to rest at Foxfield preserve in Wilmot Ohio.
