Julie A. Phipps, 78 of Lake Wales, Florida, formerly of Canfield died early Friday morning at Hospice House of Poland. Julie was born April 26, 1939 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Steve and Edith (Giovanni) Sackella and had moved to Florida 10 years ago. Julie was a beautician and had operated a beauty shop in her home until she retired in 1979. She was a member of St. Matthew's Catholic Church, Winterhaven, Florida and a 4-H adviser for the Mahoning Valley Vaqueros, where she served on the saddle horse committee. Julie was a member of the Point Yacht, Sandusky for many years, where her husband had served as commodore. She enjoyed boating and camping. Her husband, Charles E. Phipps, whom she married October 17, 1959, died January 8, 2016. She leaves her daughter, Kim (Eric) Schlegel of Bradenton, Florida; a son, Charles E. (Shelly) Phipps, Jr.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Julie also leaves a brother, Steven (Charlotte) Sackella of Poland and a sister-in-law, Sally Perunko of Canfield. There will be a memorial at St. Matthew's Catholic Church at a later date where she will be laid to rest with her husband. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Canfield Chapel.
