Karen Giannini, of Austintown, passed away at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, 2011 in the Hospice House in Poland following a courageous battle with cancer. She was 65 years old. Karen was born on April 20, 1945 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Henry G. and Betty (Eastland) Miller and was a 1963 graduate of Oliver High School in Pittsburgh. She went on to further her education and graduated from Robert Morris Junior College with an Associate degree in Secreterial Administration. Karen was currently the receptionist at The Hope Center for Cancer Care in Youngstown since its opening in 2007 and had previously worked for Forum Health in the Regional Referral Center and the Cancer Care Departments. Karen was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Austintown. She enjoyed exercising and belonged to Curves. She enjoyed road trips to the local wineries and traveling. Karen is survived by her husband Richard J. Giannini whom she married on July 26, 1969; a son John R. Giannini of Austintown; a daughter Jennifer A. (Rick) Dyson of Cleveland; a sister Jo-Ellen Miller of Pittsbugh; and two grandchildren Zachary and Ashlyn Dyson. Calling hours will take place on Friday, March 18, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave, Austintown, Ohio 44515. A Mass of Christian Burial with Msgr. Kenneth E. Miller officiating, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home. The family suggests that anyone wishing to make memorial contributions in Karen's name that they be directed to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
