Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel for Kenneth C. Fike, 70 of North Jackson who died Thursday afternoon at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Youngstown, surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born April 18, 1949 in Markleysburg, PA, a son of Willard and Ellouise (Frazee) Fike. After graduating from high school, Kenneth went on to serve in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. Kenneth worked construction for many years and then became an assembler for General Motors, where he worked for over 29 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the American Legion Post #737, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Kenneth loved playing the slot machines and gambling, riding his motorcycle and his 56 Chevy that he had restored, but especially enjoyed harassing his children! Besides his mother,Ellouise Fike, Kenneth leaves his wife, the former Janette Durbin whom he married September 18, 1971; two daughters, Nadyne Fike of North Jackson, Melissa (Joshua) Wright of Kansas; two sons, Kenneth (Grace) Fike of North Jackson, Brian (Lisa) Fike of Austintown and his six grandchildren whom he adored, Landen, Jaxson, Taylor, Avery, Tristin and Tyler. Kenneth also leaves a sister, Barbara Nicholas of Warren; a brother, Ronald (Cheri) Fike of Niles and a brother-in-law, Mike Nicholas of Warren; several nieces, nephews and special cousins. Kenneth was preceded in death by his father and a grandson, Aidan. Friends may call on Tuesday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m, followed by the service at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests material tributes take the form of donations to the Vietnam Veterans of America (vva.org) in memory of Kenneth Fike.
