Laura Louise Dulay

July 17, 1926 — April 10, 2020

Laura Louise Dulay passed away peacefully on April 10, 2020 at Hospice of the Valley following a brief illness.
The youngest of eight children, Laura was born on July 17, 1926 to Italian immigrants, Joseph and Assunta Ignozzi-Young. Laura was always proud of her heritage. She grew up on the Westside of Youngstown, and was a 1944 graduate of Chaney High School. She eventually moved to the suburbs of Austintown with her husband and five children.
Laura met Leonard at a bar in Newton Falls that neither had been to before, and likely never went again. He was the love of her life. They loved to travel, mostly by car, and managed to visit almost every state. After retirement they spent winters at their home in Ft. Myers, where they had an active social life.
Their children grew up in a home filled with an abundance of love, laughter and music. The respect and love Leonard and Laura had for each other exemplified the true meaning of family, and will never be forgotten.
As the hostess of many holiday gatherings, picnics, and family reunions Laura graciously opened her home and heart to anyone who walked through the door. She was also quite the entertainer, and no-one ever knew what to expect, but it often involved a random song or dance. There was always room for more at the table, and all left with a full heart and belly, and usually a container of leftovers.
Even though she was a mother of five she still found the energy to utilize her organizational skills as President of the PTA. In later years, she held various officer positions with a few local card clubs. and was on the Chaney Class Reunion committee. She also enjoyed playing the piano, reading mysteries, and sewing. Laura was an amazing baker, and we looked forward to the cookies she baked for the holidays, and family weddings, as well as the pies she made with pears from the tree outside her kitchen window.
Laura was strong of will and heart, and her kind and compassionate nature made her a valued friend. She had a wicked sense of humor, a quick smile, and a sparkle in her eyes. She was someone that you wanted to be around. If only to see what she would do next. She would break out in song when the first snow fell, and, and loved her cat “Kitty” so much that she fed her constantly.
Once her youngest was in school, she took a position as a bookkeeper at Alba House Communications in Canfield. She retired to spend more time with her husband. Those she worked with became lifelong friends.
Memories of Laura will be carried on by her loving family. Her children, Michael, Patrick (Mary), Laura, Leonard (Jeanne) and Joseph. Her six grandchildren, Shawna Muscatello (Tom), Jacob and Kyle Rostan, Michael and Michele, and Anthony, great-grand daughter Siena Muscatello, sister-in-law Helen Krispinsky (Tony), and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, siblings and their spouses Joseph, Mary, James (Marie), John (Lou), Theresa (Patrick) Valentino, Michael (Jean) and Louis (Beverly).
Given the current circumstances, there will be a private service for family, and a Celebration of life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the Lane Funeral Home in Austintown.
