A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Monday in St. Michael Church for Lawrence "Larry" Denny who passed away Monday afternoon at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. Larry was born November 27, 1952 in Youngstown the son of Daniel "Bo" and Madalyn (Schontz) Denny. He was a 1970 graduate of Poland Seminary High School were he was a star football player and set several records, and also played baseball. Larry also attended Youngstown State University where he played football. An outstanding sportsman, after high school he played class B and AA baseball and also for the Poland Amateur League. Larry also coached the Uptown Kiwanis Girls Baseball Team for several years. He was an avid fan of the Browns, Indians, OSU, and YSU, as well as an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and camping among other activities. Larry was employed as an Appliance Sales Associate with the Boardman Home Depot for the past 8 years. Prior to that he worked as the greenhouse manager for The Flower Mill in Canfield for 15 years, he was also a driver with Superior Beverage, and had worked for US Steel for several years. He leaves his wife the former Georgianne Boyd whom he married September 23, 1978, two daughters: Julianne Brantley and Christen (Thomas) McNally, two granddaughters; Riley "Chopper" and Allyson Brantley, his mother Madalyn Denny all of Canfield. Larry also leaves two sisters; Carolyn (Mark) Denny-Schaefer of Canfield, and Christina (Mark) Stimac of WI, as well as several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 PM Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home Canfield where closing prayers will take place at 9:15 AM on Monday. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Larry Denny Benefit Account at any Huntington Bank location.
