Howland Leo Schuler, 71, passed away Thursday morning, August 25, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, OH. Leo was born on December 16, 1945 in Butler, PA. He was a graduate of Franklin High School and was a proud Vietnam veteran. He joined the United States Navy in June 24, 1966 to proudly serve his country until he was honorably discharged on June 24, 1970 and served in the Navy Reserves until March 2, 1972. While in the Navy he earned the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He worked at Syro steel until he retired in 2008. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also loved his cars and motorcycles, especially his Harley. Leo will be deeply missed by his loving children, Jacob Schuler and April (Jeff) Campbell; his grandchildren, Aidan and Connor Schuler, and Brenden and Shaelin Campbell; his sisters, Gwen (Bill) Gooden and Linda (Richard) Shingledecker; and his brother Gary (Jennifer) Timko. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Francis Schuler; Leila and Jack Brakeman; his beloved wife Deborah Schuler, whom he married on January 25, 1975 and passed on May 15, 2017; and his daughter Heather Schuler. Funeral services for Leo will be held on Tuesday August 29, 2017 at 11:00AM at the funeral home, followed by a burial at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, OH next to his wife and daughter with full military honors.
