Leo E. Hodgkiss

Leo E. Hodgkiss, 78 of Johnston Township died Monday morning, August 15, 2016, at Hospice House in Poland. He was born August 10, 1938 in Tarrs, Pennsylvania the son of the late Raymond E. and Sibbit Baird Hodgkiss. Leo worked in the transportation department at Copperweld Steel for 43 years, retiring in December 2000. He was an avid fan of Indy car racing and attended the Indianapolis 500 for many years. He was a member of the Cortland Moose Lodge No. 1012, enjoyed gardening and loved gambling and going to casinos. His wife of nearly 33 years, Beverly James Hodgkiss preceded him in death in 2010. One son, Ricky M. Hodgkiss preceded in death in 2008; four brothers, Bill, Donny, Ray "Herk" and Charles "Chi" Hodgkiss and one sister, Katherine Lowstetter also preceded him in death. Leo is survived by two daughters, Terri L. Hodgkiss of Springfield, MO and Michelle (Dave) Croyle of Vienna; one son, Mark A. (Kim) Hodgkiss of Johnston; six grandchildren, David, Damon and Emma Croyle and Tad, Tyler and Tiffany Hodgkiss; two great grandchildren and two sisters, Hulda "Sis" Stepp of Scottsdale, Pa. and Beverly (Bill) Sterrett of Mt. Pleasant, Pa. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where the family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service time Saturday.
