Howland Leo John Bodkin, 89, passed away Wednesday evening, March 1, 2017 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren, OH. Leo was born on July 24, 1927 in West Virginia, a son of the late Osbern and Tiny (Sponaugle) Bodkin. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country from June 29, 1945 to July 27, 1946. After his honorable discharge he went on to a Machinist Technical School. He worked at Peerless Winsmith until he retired in 1995 He enjoyed being outdoors watching birds, gardening, and canning. He was a bee keeper and sold his own honey and ran his own Christmas Tree Farm from his home. Leo will be deeply missed by his two sons, David Bodkin of Howland, OH and Paul (Catherine) Bodkin of Ashburn, VA; and one sister Freda (Harold) Smith of Augusta, GA. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife Betty Jane Bodkin, whom he married on January 17, 1952 and passed away on July 17, 1952; his brothers, Delmer, Jimmy, and Woodrow Bodkin; and his sisters, Virginia Lawrence and Eva Bodkin. Family will receive friends from 5-7:00PM on Monday March 6, 2017 at Lane Family Funeral Homes Roberts- Clark Chapel, located at 180 Garfield Dr. NE Warren, OH 44483. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday 7, 2017 at 11:00AM with Randi Pappa as a certified celebrant. Entombment will be held at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, OH.
