Leona H. Baran

Leona H. Baran, 89, passed away on May 26, 2018 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. Leona was born August 6, 1928 in Masury, OH to George & Mary (Krivak) Baran. She graduated in 1946 from Brookfield High School as well as Youngstown University in 1961 and Westminster College in 1969. Leona was employed as a secretary and then elementary school teacher for the Hartford and Brookfield Schools, retiring in 1982. She was a life member of the county, state and national education associations. A woman of great faith, Leona was a life member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hermitage, PA. Leona is survived by her sisters Martha Anderson of West Middlesex, PA, and Esther Jean (David) Haas of Norwalk, CT, her brother William (Ginnie) of Warren, OH as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant sister Elsie; sisters Ann Koniar and Marian Zippay and her brothers Paul Richard, John and George Baran. Visitation will be held on Thursday May 31, 2018 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lane Funeral Homes, Madasz location, Brookfield. Funeral services will be held on Friday June 1, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 3325 Morefield Rd, Hermitage, PA. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
