Leona Ruth Smith

Leona Ruth Smith, 84 of Champion Twp. died Thursday Aug.21, 2008 at Sterling House in Troy, OH. She was born July 10, 1924 in Guys Mills, PA the daughter of Stanford and May (Cross) Weddell. An area resident for most of her life, she graduated from Leavittsburg High School. Ruth was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church and she loved to sew- often making clothes for her family. Her husband of 54 years Ralph E. Smith whom she married Aug.26, 1945 preceded her in death June 1, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three brothers, and one sister. She is survived by a daughter Carolyn L. Nixon of Indianapolis, IN, two sisters Muriel Kovack and Marion Hart of Southington, three grandsons Brian of Troy, OH, Brent of Indianapolis, Bryce of Muncie, IN, 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday Aug. 25, 2008 at Roberts-Clark Chapel where friends will be received from 12:30 until service time. Pastor Kelly Faulstich will officiate.
