Lewis Joseph Veltre, 88 Lewis Joseph Veltre, 88 of Campbell died at his residence Sunday morning. Lewis was born September 17, 1929 in Lowellville, a son of the late John and Ida (Labrizzia) Veltre and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Struthers High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1950-1953. He graduated from New Castle School of Trades in brick laying. Lewis worked in the metallurigical department at Republic Steel and then worked as a head roller for Jones & Laughlin Steel for 21 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the former St. Elizabeth Church for over 50 years and then became a member of St. Lucy Parish where he served as an usher. Lewis was an avid sports fan, especially the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Cavaliers. He enjoyed softball, baseball, bowling and was an avid golfer. Lewis had achieved four holes in one and four eagles. Lewis and his wife had owned Erieview Trailer Park in Saybrook, Ohio on Lake Erie for 45 years and spent the summer months boating, water skiing and fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and was a member of the VFW Post #3538. His wife, the former Marian Laverne Rita Siembida whom he married June 27, 1953, died October 8, 2010. He leaves two daughters, Joanne Veltre of Campbell and Jacqueline Stabile of Mount Vernon; one granddaughter, Julianne Stabile and one sister, Josephine Shasho of Poland. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday at Christ the Good Shepherd at St. Joseph Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Anstrom Chapel, Boardman.
