On July 11, 2024, Linda “Ma” Whittaker departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She was the daughter of James and Ila (Anderson) Whittaker. She was born January 3, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Linda dedicated her life to caring for her family and nurturing her community. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, as she loved Jesus with all her heart and shared that love generously with everyone she encountered.
She was a beacon of kindness and God’s love. She lovingly raised not only her six children but also became a second mom to the neighborhood. Her home was always open, a sanctuary where all were welcomed, from close friends to strangers in need.
Deeply committed to the welfare of her community, Linda took action to ensure its safety by founding a neighborhood watch program and co-iOS for Community Action Agency in Farrell Pa. Her proactive spirit and determination to protect those around her were testament to her selflessness and concern for others.
She was also a wonderful big sister who provided guidance and support to her siblings throughout their lives. Her presence brought comfort and strength to her family in times of joy and sorrow alike.
Linda loved to write and was very talented as well in illustrating her stories. She was published in Guideposts Magazine authoring “Miracle” to name one.
Linda was also a talented singer with an angelic voice gracing churches and her children. If you stayed overnight at her home you would hear her sing in the hallway to put the children to sleep at night. Her kindness, generosity, and genuine love for humanity has left an indelible mark on our hearts. Her spirit will continue to inspire us all.
She is survived by her brother Jon (Cindy) Whittaker of Rockwood, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Jim Whittaker. Rick Whittaker and her sister Debbie McQuiston. She has six children Don (Diane) Olenik of Lake Milton, OH; Betsey (Mark) Williams, Catawba, OH; John Olenik, Lisbon, OH; Michelle (Roger) Vigus, Zelienople, PA and Sam Olenik of Niles, OH. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diana Bauer, Sharon, PA . She was the cherished grandmother of nine; and great-grandmother of seven. In honoring Linda's memory, let us strive to live as she did: with compassion, faith, and a willingness to open our hearts and homes to others. She has now gone to be with her Savior, and her daughter Diana, whom she loved so dearly. We find solace in knowing she rests in eternal peace.
