WARREN- Linda E. Townsend, age 81, passed away Sunday, April 14th at her residence surrounded by her family. Linda was born December 4, 1937 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania to the late Boyd and Adelaide (Glenn) Burd. Linda was a graduate of Vienna High School. Linda was a devoted wife, friend, servant of the Lord, and an amazing mother. She smiled through many hardships and always stayed optimistic. She and Ray always enjoyed going out dancing for fun and spending their time together. She was light on her feet and competed in many ballroom dancing competitions. "Mom" to many - She was a wonderful mother not only to her children, but to many in the neighborhood. Linda was a proud, fun and energetic homemaker. She opened her home and heart, was loving to all and only saw the beauty in every individual. Being a person who loved to laugh and be silly, she energetically took on each day to take her kids on new adventures and bring joy into their lives. She didnt bother making things run smoothly for herself or worry about perfectionistic dishware. Her passion was for other people and making them feel special. Her theme was all are welcome and we will make it work. We all aspire to be as gracious and loving as mom. She will be greatly missed, but always bubbling in our hearts and minds. She was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene on Parkman Rd. Besides her parents, Linda is preceded in death by her brother Joseph Burd. Linda is survived by her husband of 62 years, Ray Townsend whom she married December 7, 1956; her children, Sandra Ham, Eugene (Pam) Townsend, Robert (Laura) Townsend, Joseph (Jill) Townsend, Richard (Susanne) Townsend, and Phillip (Audria) Townsend; a brother Glenn Burd; ten grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. A memorial service celebrating Lindas life will begin at 3PM Friday, April 19th at the Lane Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel, 180 Garfield Dr. NE in Warren, where friends may call from 1-3PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe made to Southern Care Hospice.
