Beloved matriarch Louise Elizabeth (Koran) Kinn died August 31 at Austinwoods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 93. A memorial luncheon is scheduled October 6 at Saxon Club. Louise was born November 19, 1924, in Youngstown to John and Elizabeth (Sano) Koran. She graduated from Chaney High School in January 1943, where she was named homecoming queen. She went on to work at the General Electric Ohio Lamp Plant. After World War II she married Raymond Edward Kinn, a classmate from Chaney and friend of her high school sweetheart, in whose own wedding Louise would go on to serve as matron of honor. The families would remain friends throughout life. Ray and Louise began a family in Austintown, where they raised two children, Gary Edward and Nonie Rae (Kinn) Holden. She enjoyed traveling with her family and spoke often about family vacations camping throughout the American west, driving down to Myrtle Beach where she would let the waves crash over her, and camping at East Harbor State Park on Lake Erie where she and Raymond took their family for decades. Louise was devoted to her family and always saw the best in people. For years she hosted a large family reunion at her Howard Ave. home. Her compassion is perhaps best explained by the time she expressed concern that the deer might not know that it is safer to cross by the deer crossing sign. The anecdote brought her family joy for the rest of her life. She was active in the Youngstown Saxon Club, where her husband sang barbershop, and became an active member in Mahoning United Methodist Church, where her husband sang in the choir. Louise spent her final days reminiscing with family and looking forward to the upcoming Ohio State football season. She is survived by her two children, Gary and Nonie; five grandchildren, Aaron Michael Holden, Jeremy Alan Holden, Ryan Patrick Holden, Debra Rae Kinn, and Jennifer Ann (Kinn) Master; four great grandchildren; and her cat, Lily. She is preceded in death by her husband and parents, along with her siblings, Elmer John Koran, William Charles Koran, and Ethel Eleanor (Koran) Castrucci. She left the campground better than she found it. The family has entrusted services to Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel. To view this obituary or send condolences, visit lanefuneralhomes.com.
