Lourene Ester Gaskell

With an ever thankful and caring heart, Lou Rene Ester Gaskell will spend her 93rd birthday with her Lord. At age 92 and of Howland Township she passed away at home late Tuesday evening. She was born November 15, 1925 in Niles the only child of Charles Henry and Ellen Ann Morris Jones and was a lifetime Warren area resident. Lou Rene was a 1944 graduate of Niles McKinley High School. She met her husband, who had been recently discharged from the Navy, Alfred M. Gaskell, and they married April 12, 1947. She was a homemaker all of her married life. Lou Rene was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, where she was a longtime choir member and was still singing hours before she met her Creator. Left to lovingly remember her are two daughters, Karen A. (Douglas) Haryu and Lesley Gaskell both of Howland; three grandchildren, Julie Haryu, Karina (Daniel) Repp and Douglas (Abigail) Haryu Jr. and six great grandchildren, Alexis Conti, Bradley and Colton Repp and Genevieve, Quinn and Lincoln Haryu. Her husband of 67 years, Alfred M. Gaskell preceded her in death March 14, 2014. The family will receive friends from noon until the 1 p.m. memorial Celebration of Life service on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at the Christ Episcopal Church. The Rev. J. Jeffrey Baker will officiate at the 1 p.m. service. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Christ Episcopal Church columbarium. Arrangements were entrusted to Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. The family wishes to thank MVI Hospice Care, Doctors Ashok Kumar and Heba Mikhail for their compassionate care and support shown to Lou Rene.
