Marie Kozup, 95 of Howland Township, died Sunday afternoon, July 22, 2018, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Boardman. She was born November 15, 1922 in Niles, the daughter of the late James and Virginia Coates Marsico. She had been a lifetime Trumbull county resident. Marie was a 1942 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and attended Youngstown College, majoring in accounting. She and her husband, Peter, owned Kozup's Superette store on Highland Avenue in Warren, where she was the bookkeeper. She was also a dedicated homemaker all of her married life. Marie was raised at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Niles and practiced the Catholic Faith. She enjoyed Italian cooking and was an avid music fan, especially of opera and big band music. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Surviving are two daughters, Danielle J. (David P.) Foskie of Cortland and Lisa M. Shaffer of Loyalton, Calif.; one son, Peter E. Kozup of Warren; five grandchildren, Michael Kozup, Robert (Allison) Shaffer, Jessica Dias, Vincent (Erica) Shaffer and Patrick Shaffer; five great grandchildren, Jackson, Casey and Ashley Dias, Drake Shaffer and Elias Finch; two sisters, Janette Ewing and Anna Mae Mix both of Florida and one brother, Jimmy (Cynthia) Marsico of Warren. Her husband of nearly 40 years, Peter Kozup, whom she married February 16, 1953 preceded her in death October 1, 1992; her son-in-law, Robert D. Shaffer preceded April 1, 2017 and four sisters, Gladys Mannella, Martha Rossi, Lena Renato and Bessie Vaccaro and two brothers, Dominic Lubert and Rocco Marsico all have also preceded her in death. A private Celebration of Life memorial gathering will be held the last Sunday in August, August 26, 2018 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Roberts-Clark Chapel in Warren. The family wishes to thank the Shepherd of the Valley Boardman staff and Hospice of the Valley for the compassionate and loving care shown to Marie.
