Marie M. Talstein

Warren - Marie M. Talstein, 92, passed away Saturday morning, January 27, 2018 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born on March 28, 1925 in Warren, OH, a daughter of the late Valeri and Maria (Gravila) Mokodean and was raised on the family farm in Howland. She was a 1943 graduate of Howland High School and worked as the secretary for Dr. Mahanna and then at Warren City Schools until she retired in 1972. She loved to garden flowers and loved spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Marie will be deeply missed by her loving children, John (Patricia Cleary) Talstein of Niles, OH, Valerie (Dennis) Jacobs of Mount Juliet, TN, and Robert (Dori) Talstein of Warren, OH; her grandchildren, Amanda Marie (Joe) Wallace; Alison Louise (John) Terry, Todd (Jennie) Talstein, Zachary Talstein, and Katie Lynn Talstein; six great-grandchildren, and a brother Virgil Mokodean of Mecca. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, August F. Talstein, whom she married on July 3, 1949 and passed away on September 14, 2001; her brother John Mokodean; and two step-brothers, Sam and Tom Popa. A memorial service for Marie will be held on Saturday February 3, 2018 at 11:00AM at St. Mark Lutheran Church at 571 Parkman Road SW Warren, OH 44485. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service from 10-11:00AM at the church. Internment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Warren, where she will be buried next to her husband. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mark Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
